About the State Association of Child Advocate Programs

Our Mission:

The mission of Washington State Association of ChildAdvocate Programs is to develop the capacity of local Child Advocate/GAL programs to advocate for abused and neglected children through training, networking and technical assistance.

We support member local CASA, GAL and child advocate programs in the following areas:

1. Training:
Our training activities support local program training efforts, including statewide Annual Conference; and opportunities for peer-to-peer training and support through twice-annual program development meetings.

2. Networking and Awareness:
Our networking and awareness raising activities recruit new advocates and raise public awareness of child welfare issues. We support local program efforts to recruit new child advocates; reach out to community organizations; present at various speaking engagements; and provide recruitment communications materials.  We also have a vibrant legislative advocacy program.

3. Capacity Building and Support:
Our capacity building activities strengthen local programs’ abilities to serve children in the dependency system. Activities include:  data collection; new and ongoing program development; quality assurance assistance; and other resource development.
